Real fancy hotels
5-star rated hotels are eminent and provide many facilities and luxurious services. In NYC there are several high-end hotels which cost you between $500-$1,500 per night. Staying in a luxurious hotel is a special experience. Even when you do not want to stay in a high-priced hotel yourself or you can't afford it it is possible to take a glance inside some hotels. One of the best and well-known hotels is the Plaza hotel next to Central Park. The Plaza is frequently used as a movie set. Underneath the Plaza is a food market. Other well-known hotels are the Palace , the Peninsula, Four Seasons hotel and of course the iconic Waldorf-Astoria hotel which unfortunatly is currently undergoing a renovation. These are a few examples but there are lots of 5-star hotels with an incredible quality in New York City.

Budget and middle-class hotels
It is almost impossible to stay in Manhattan with a really tight budget but there are plenty of hotels available which will cost you around $50-$100 per night. Staying in a different borough is mostly cheaper and staying in a hostel can be really cheap too. The quality and services are obviously less in comparison to the high-end accomodations. Staying in a middle-class hotel in Manhattan will cost you $100-$200 per night. I listed some of my favourite hotels in Manhattan below. 

YOTEL, Manhattan
This hotel is located in Midtown West close to a subway station. It is located in the center and all highlights are easy to reach. One night in YOTEL costs around $130. This is a fair price for a hotel in Manhattan on such a great location. Most rooms have windows with a street view. The facilities are amongst others: a restaurant, hotelbar, gym, WiFi, etc. 

The Standard High Line, Manhattan
The Standard High Line is more expensive, it costs around $280 per night. The Standard High Line is,as the name suggests, located at the High Line, has great rooms and a rooftop bar with a view over New York City. The hotel chain Standard has several more hotels in LA, Miami and NYC. There is also a Standard hotel in the East Village that is really attractive.

Pod 51 Hotel, Manhattan
Pod 51 Hotel is a hotel located in Midtown Manhattan. One night in the Pod 51 Hotel costs around $190. The location is perfect, the subway station is nearby and you can walk to Fifth Avenue and Central Park.

The Evelyn , Manhattan
The Evelyn is a simple and classic hotel with an excellent location. It is established at 27th St in between the Empire State Building and the Flat Iron building. When you leave the hotel and walk for 50 meters you're on Fifth Avenue, immediatly on the right you can see the Empire State building and on the left the Flat Iron building. Lots of hotels are located close to Times Square, these hotels are in general quite expensive and it is always overcrowded. The neighborhood of The Evelyn is less busy and Madison Square Park is located close to the hotel. One night in The Evelyn costs around $250.

Hotel Z NYC, Queens
This hotel is located in Queens and it costs around $180. The hotel has an amazing view over the Manhattan skyline. The neighborhood where the hotel is located isn't that great but there is a free shuttle bus which brings you to Manhattan within 15 minutes. It is a nice place to stay if you love the skyline and want to stay in a place more quiet.
