Boat tour
A boat tour is a great way to enjoy the New York skyline and to see the Statue of Liberty without actually visiting it, which will safe you some time. There are free ferries which you can use like the East River ferry and the Staten Island ferry. Next to this specialized boat tours are available such as jazz boat tours or dinner boat tours. Usually a boat tour takes about 1-2 hours. A longer or more luxurious tour is of course more expensive. A completely different boat tour and a unique way to experience Central Park is to rent a rowing boat and row on the Central Park lake.
Bike tours
There are several guided bike tours through the city. Popular locations to ride a bike are the Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park. Riding a bike through Manhattan is quite difficult but not impossible. Guided bike tours through Manhattan or other boroughs are a good option to explore the city. Popular bike tours are the Manhattan Highlights Bike Tour and Brooklyn Waterfront Bike Tour. Another way to explore New York City by bike is to rent a bike by your own or use Citi Bike. Citi Bike is an excellent bike share system and an affordable way to explore New York City. Bus tour
An easy and fast way to discover New York City is by using a bus (tour). A hop-on-hop-off bus is ideal to move around New York City (next to the subway and the yellow cabs). In New York City there are various bus tours which will give you the opportuniy to see all the highlights. A popular bus tour is the Big Bus Tour, which is also a hop-on-hop-off bus. You can buy tickets for sightseeing and night tours. Other popular bus tour are the CitySightseeing hop-on-hop-off busses. There are more bus tours in New York City but these two are my personal faves.
Helicopter flight
If you can afford it a helicopter flight over the Manhattan skyline is a once in a lifetime experience. There are a lot of different possible helicopter flights with different prices and various duration of the flight. A flight of 15-minutes will cost you around $200-$300 per person depending on the company. It is possible to fly during the day, during sunset and even during the night. For a higher price you can buy a ticket for a private helicopter flight or enjoy a meal during the helicopter flight.

Other tours
There are thousands of tours in New York City. Next to the above mentioned vehicle tours. A lot of museums and highlights have their own guided tours, for example a tour in the 9/11 museum. New York City is very often used as movie set, you can take guided tours to discover the locations that are used as movie places yourself. Examples are a Gossip Girl tour or a Sex and the City tour.
