Parks

Despite the fact that New York City is known for its skyscrapers, it has also multiple beautiful parks. The parks are great to relax and enjoy yourself!

Central Park, Manhattan
Central Park is the largest and most well-known park in New York City. 25 million people visit Central Park every year. And within Central Park there are quite a few highlights. I advice you to rent a bike or go on a guided bike tour to see a lot of Central Park. When you want to see most highlights in Central Park you should take enough time because Central Park is huge. When visiting Central Park take a look at Belvedere Castle, Strawberry fields, the Bethesda terrace, Sheep Meadow, the Central Park Zoo, the Great Lawn and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir.
Tip:  Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Next tot the incredible artworks you can also enjoy the rooftop with a beautiful view over Central Park

Washington Square Park, Manhattan
Washington Square Park is a small park in Greenwich Village with the famous Washingtion Arch. Through the Washington Arch you can see the Empire State building. The park is named in honour after the first president of the United States of America, George Washington. In Washington Square Park you will often see jazz musicians, acrobats, folk singers, performance artists and other remarkable persons from NYC.  Lot of trendy boutiques and restaurants are located around Washington Square Park. Washington Square Park is often used as a place to meet by students because NYU is located next to the park.

Battery Park, Manhattan
Battery Park is located at the southern tip of Manhattan. In Battery Park you have a perfect view at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. From Battery Park the ferries depart for the Statue of Liberty.  During the summer several concerts and festivals take place in Battery Park. Battery Park has an important history, before immigrants arrived at Ellis Island they arrived at Battery park. Battery Park is also often used as the starting point for walking tours.

Bryant Park, Manhattan
Bryant park is located in the Middle of Manhattan close to Times Square. Bryant Park is known for all the activities that take place in the park. In the winter an ice skating rink is situated here and during the summer you can watch free movies and take lessons, for example yoga lessons. Bryant Park is a small and cozy park , it is perfect to spend a lazy afternoon. In the park you can find the New York Public Library, when you are in Bryant Park do take a look in the Library. Bryant Park is a place where people come to relax after work and you can study in the New York Public Library which is a great experience.

Madison Square Park, Manhattan
Madison Square Park is one of my favourite places in New York City and it is located in the Flat Iron district in between the Flat Iron building and the Empire State building. It is not a very big park but it is perfect when you want to flee from the crowds. In Madison Square Park you can find play grounds, fountains and a Shake Shack. The park is perfect for art lovers because there are often temporarily expositions.

Brooklyn Bridge Park , Brooklyn
When you are planning to go to the Brooklyn Bridge make a detour to Brooklyn Bridge Park and enjoy the New York Skyline in the park. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a big park located underneath the Brooklyn Bridge along the East river. Perfect for a sunny day or a relaxing day. Enjoy yourself while looking at the New York skyline , make a walk along the East river or exercise on one of the sport fields. The park is always open except from 1 AM to 6 AM. There are several eating opportunities, you can find nice restaurants and picknick places are available. For children there are plenty of playing grounds.
Tip:  Every Sunday at 11 AM a free tour starts at Pier 1 with information about Brooklyn Bridge Park.
